Shrimp Nurseries
Aqua Mitra has successfully constructed over 1,600 shrimp nurseries, ranging from 10 cubic meters to 1,000 cubic meters, delivering scalable and high-performance nursery solutions across India and globally.

Shrimps Nurseries
At Aqua Mitra, we understand that the foundation of a successful shrimp farming operation begins long before grow-out ponds are stocked. It begins in the nursery.
A well-designed shrimp nursery is not merely a holding facility — it is a controlled environment where post-larvae transition into strong, uniform juveniles. The performance of the entire crop often depends on how efficiently this early stage is managed. That is why we approach nursery construction with the same precision, engineering discipline, and scientific understanding that define all our aquaculture infrastructure projects.

Every nursery project begins with a comprehensive site assessment. We evaluate land elevation, water availability, soil strength, drainage requirements, and biosecurity parameters. The layout is carefully planned to ensure optimal water flow, aeration efficiency, ease of monitoring, and operational convenience.
Tank design plays a critical role in nursery performance. We customize tank dimensions based on stocking density, target transfer size, and production cycles. Whether circular, rectangular, or raceway-style systems, each structure is engineered to promote uniform water circulation and effective sludge removal. Proper slope design ensures that waste accumulates at designated collection points, allowing for easy removal and maintaining superior water quality.

Structural durability is equally important. We construct nursery tanks using high-quality materials, including reinforced concrete and HDPE lining where required, to ensure leak-proof containment, long service life, and enhanced biosecurity. Special attention is given to inlet and outlet systems to prevent cross-contamination and ensure controlled water exchange.
Aeration and water management systems are integrated into the design from the beginning rather than treated as secondary additions. We carefully position diffusers, paddle wheels, or blower lines to maintain consistent dissolved oxygen levels and prevent stress during high-density rearing. Pipe routing is designed for operational efficiency and ease of maintenance.

Biosecurity is a central pillar of our nursery infrastructure. Controlled entry points, footbath systems, proper drainage segregation, and disinfection areas are incorporated to minimize disease risks. In intensive nursery models, we also plan for backup systems such as standby power supply and emergency aeration.
Operational practicality guides every design decision. Walkways are positioned for safe movement, feeding lines are accessible, and monitoring stations are integrated to allow real-time observation. The goal is to create a nursery that not only performs technically but also supports efficient daily management.

What distinguishes Aqua Mitra’s shrimp nursery systems is the seamless integration of engineering precision with farming practicality. We do not simply build tanks — we create controlled rearing environments designed to produce strong, uniform juveniles ready for transfer into grow-out systems.
In shrimp farming, consistency at the nursery stage directly influences survival rates, growth performance, and final harvest outcomes. By focusing on structural integrity, water dynamics, and biosecurity from the outset, we help farmers reduce stress, improve uniformity, and enhance overall crop performance.
At Aqua Mitra, we believe that strong harvests begin with strong juveniles — and strong juveniles begin in a well-engineered nursery.
